About Folsom, CA

Folsom is a familiar to most made famous by song about the state prison recorded by Johnny Cash in 1956. However, the city's rich history began more than a century earlier with California's great Gold Rush and arrival of the railroad.

Folsom, named after U.S. Army Captain Joseph Folsom, who arrived in the area with his regiment in 1847.

Gold was first discovered along the south bank of the American River upstream from Folsom, in the area known as Negro Bar. The discovery led to the California Gold Rush and hundreds of thousands of fortune seekers flooded the Sierra foothills.

Today Folsom offers a myriad of opportunities to experience California’s quintessential year-round lifestyle: a vast range of cycling, running, water sports; premium shopping, dining and cultural events; and seasonal attractions and activities. From the streets of historic Folsom to the miles of cycling and running trails, to modern lifestyle hub of the Palladio at Broadstone, Folsom is bursting with things to do and surrounded by scenic two-lane roads that call for you and your Lotus!

The 2019 WCLM will be headquartered at the Lake Natoma Inn in the heart of Historic Folsom. The Lake Natoma Inn has 138 rooms and suites, a 24-hour fitness center and on-site restaurant, the Natoma Bar & Grill.
